19th Master class of ICF Bulgaria with Guest Speaker Lena Gustafsson, PCC; Leadership in process of change – challenges in empowering people you work with

Based on a model of independence scale in employees we will explore different leadership styles in different kinds of work places. What are the differences and how do they affect the people working there?

Getting back to the model Lena will give an overview of the new demands it poses on a leader moving his/her staff from dependant to independent to get more out of each ones ownership of problems and solutions. Adding some mirroring of how different managerial styles tend to move people in different directions on the scale gives perspective on effect of leadership behaviours. 

“Demo experiment lab” will take place with a purpose of visualizing and playing with roles, expectations and the theories we are working on giving the participants opportunity to reflect and challenge themselves in their thinking in a non-threatening way.

Main topic areas covered in the session:  

• Leadership and organisational styles
• How and why coaching in different ways fits into leadership development 
• Focus on transforming from control management into coaching and supporting leadership style
• Leadership and management style in line with expectations of a self-reliant, responsible and effective staff

Learning outcomes:

Participants will increase their skills in leadership coaching by adding a tool to explain and understand different organisational needs and thus different demands on leaders.

Short biography:

Lena Gustafsson is ICF PCC and Master of social sciences majoring in Psychology. She is president of ICF Sweden and actively engaged in the development of coaching in her country. 

Co-creating the future by coaching its leaders is at the core of her work. She is working nationally and internationally, coaching leaders in all sectors from multinational companies to sole traders, public organisations and NGOs.  Besides working as a coach she is deeply interested in gazing at the future through organisational development. 

She holds positions as entrepreneurial start up advisor, does leadership consulting and works in different company boards. She is the representative of coaches in Swedish national council of branches and an active member of Swedish Federation of Business Owners, currently member of the national board. 

He is the author of Living Awareness, and co-author of Moksha, Living in the Spirit (with Prof. Luh Ketut Suryani), and When Performance Meets Alignment (with Jan Ardui).
